3 May

£10 in the draw! Is it YOUR lucky day? It was lucky in 1715 when a total solar eclipse was visible across northern Europe, and northern Asia, as predicted by Edmond Halley to within 4 minutes accuracy. In 1837, the University of Athens wasfounded in Athens, Greece and in 1937, Gone with the Wind, a novel by Margaret Mitchell, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

Famous people born on this day include Bing Crosby, American singer and actor, born 1903, James Brown, American singer-songwriter, born 1933, Frankie Valli, American singer and actor, born 1934, and Sandi Toksvig, Danish-English comedian, author, and radio host, born 1958. The day goes to the peerless Sandi Toksvig:

"The world is exciting and full of wonder."

Have a wonderful day!
