24 April

£10 in the draw! Are you SURE it isn't your lucky day? Today was a lucky day in 1704 when the first regular newspaper in British Colonial America, The Boston News-Letter, was published. It was also lucky in 1895, when Joshua Slocum became the first person to sail single-handedly around the world, setting sail from Boston, Massachusetts aboard the sloop "Spray". In 1923, in Vienna, the paper Das Ich und das Es (The Ego and the Id) by Sigmund Freud was published, which outlined Freud's theories of the id, ego, and super-ego.

Famous people born on this day include Shirley MacLaine, American actress, singer, and dancer, born 1934, Barbra Streisand, American singer, actress, and producer, born 1942, Jean Paul Gaultier, French fashion designer, born 1952, Kelly Clarkson, American singer-songwriter, producer, and actress, born 1982 and Caspar Lee, English-South African actor and vlogger, born 1994. The day goes to Barbra – take it away Babs!

I am simple, complex, generous, selfish, unattractive, beautiful, lazy, and driven.

You have got to discover you, what you do, and trust it.

Art does not exist only to entertain, but also to challenge one to think, to provoke, even to disturb, in a constant search for truth.

Success to me is having ten honeydew melons and eating only the top half of each slice.

Have a sweet, honeydew melon of a day!
