16 April

£10 in the draw! Is it your lucky day? It was a lucky day in India in 1853 when the first passenger rail opened in India, from Bori Bunder, Bombay to Thane, and on the same day in 1894 Manchester City F.C. was formed from Ardwick A.F.C. In 1912, Harriet Quimby became the first woman to fly an airplane across the English Channel and in 1953, Queen Elizabeth II launched the Royal Yacht HMY Britannia

Famous people born on this day include Charlie Chaplin, English actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and composer, born 1889, Spike Milligan, Irish actor, singer, screenwriter, and author, born 1918, Dusty Springfield, English singer and record producer, born 1939 and Jimmy Osmond, American singer and actor, born 1963. So who to dedicate the day to? Has to be Dusty of course!

I'm the most misunderstood, misquoted person I know, honestly.

It's marvellous to be popular, but foolish to think it will last.

Have a lovely, lucky day!
