13 April

£10 in the draw! Are you sure it isn't you? It was a lucky day in 1742 when George Frideric Handel's oratorio Messiah made its world-première in Dublin, Ireland. In 1870, the New York City Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded, and, 1997, Tiger Woods became the youngest golfer to win the Masters Tournament.

Famous people born on this day include Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and playwright, born 1939, and Al Green, American singer-songwriter, producer, born 1946. Number one on this day on the US Billboard in 1974 was Elton John with the brilliant 'Bennie and the Jets! Love this song, but have to dedicate the day to Seamus Heaney:

"I returned to a long strand,
the hammered curve of a bay,
and found only the secular
powers of the Atlantic thundering."

Have a wonderfully lucky day my friend!
