10 April

£10 in the draw! Are you sure it isn’t your lucky day? It was a very lucky day in 837 when Halley's Comet missed the Earth by only 3.2 million miles. In 1916, The Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA) was created in New York City and in 1925, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald was first published in New York City.

Famous people born on this day include Omar Sharif, Egyptian actor and screenwriter, born 1932, Ed Byrne, Irish actor, producer, and screenwriter, born 1972, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, English singer-songwriter, born 1979. The day, however, has to go to the wonderful book that is The Great Gatsby:

“The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.”

“Angry, and half in love with her, and tremendously sorry, I turned away.”

Have a wonderfully lucky day my friend! And please do tell your friends and family about us – if we get more people to join we can increase the number of draws as well as the amount we give away. Thank you!
