21 March

A new lucky day has been drawn? Is it your lucky day? It is for Henry Morton Stanley who began his trek to find the missionary and explorer David Livingstone on this day in 1871. In 1952, Alan Freed presented the first rock and roll concert, the Moondog Coronation Ball, in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1970, the first Earth Day proclamation was issued by Mayor of San Francisco Joseph Alioto. In 1980, Dallas aired its "A House Divided" episode, which lead to eight months of international speculation regarding Who shot J.R.? Next we have Debi Thomas becoming the first African American to win the World Figure Skating Championships in 1986 and, in 1999, Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones became the first to circumnavigate the Earth in a hot air balloon.

Gary Oldman, English actor, filmmaker, musician and author, was born on this day in 1958, and in 1960, Ayrton Senna, Brazilian race car driver, was born: “Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.” and “Women - always in trouble with them, but can't live without them.”

However, the day is dedicated to Twitter and all you Twits or Tweeters out there as the social media site Twitter was founded on this day in 2006.
