20 March

£10 in the Lucky Day draw! Are you sure it isn't your lucky day? It was a brilliantly lucky day for Sir Walter Raleigh in 1616 as he was freed from the Tower of London after 13 years of imprisonment. Another lucky event for the day occurred in 1916 when Albert Einstein published his general theory of relativity. In 1923, the Arts Club of Chicago hosted the opening of Pablo Picasso's first United States showing, entitled Original Drawings by Pablo Picasso, becoming an early proponent of modern art in the United States. In 1985, Libby Riddles became the first woman to win the 1,135-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, and, in 2015, a Solar eclipse, equinox, and a Supermoon all occurred on the same day.

Vera Lynn, English singer-songwriter and actress, was born on this day in 1917, but the day is dedicated to an influential American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter born on this day in 1957 – the one and only Spike Lee:

It has been my observation that parents kill more dreams than anybody.

Fight the power that be. Fight the power.

Have a supermoon of a lucky day!
