In 1892, Liverpool F.C. was founded and 1906, Rolls-Royce Limited was incorporated. In 1927, the first Women's Boat Race between the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge took place on The Isis in Oxford and in 1935, Percy Shaw founded his company Reflecting Roadstuds Limited to make cat's eyes. In 1956, My Fair Lady debuted on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre and in 1985, the first Internet domain name was registered (symbolics.com).

Famous people born on this day include Mike Love, American singer-songwriter with The Beach Boys, born 1941. Lynda La Plante, English screenwriter and author, and David Cronenberg, Canadian actor, director and screenwriter, were both born on this day in 1943. In 1962, Terence Trent D'Arby, American singer-songwriter, was born and in 1975, will.i.am, American rapper and producer was born.
