13 March

Let’s see what the 13th of March has in store for us. Well, in 1639, Harvard College was named after clergyman John Harvard and in 1781, William Herschel discovered Uranus. In 1845, Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto received its première performance in Leipzig with Ferdinand David as soloist and, in 1938, World News Roundup was broadcast for the first time on CBS Radio in the United States.

Famous people born on this day include Neil Sedaka, American singer-songwriter and pianist, born 1939 and Trevor Sorbie, Scottish hairdresser, born 1949. A day therefore dedicated to easy listening music and good hair!
