12 March

Welcome to the 12 of March and the lucky events that have occurred on this glorious day. In 1881, Andrew Watson made his Scotland debut as the world's first black international football player and captain and, in 1894, Coca-Cola was bottled and sold for the first time in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In 1912, the Girl Guides (later renamed the Girl Scouts of the USA) were founded in the United States and, in 1993, Janet Reno was sworn in as the United States' first female attorney general.

Famous people born on this day include Liza Minnelli, American actress, singer, and dancer, born 1946; Coleen Nolan, English singer with The Nolans and television host, born 1965; and Pete Doherty, English singer-songwriter and guitarist, born 1979.

Number one on the US Billboard on this day in 1988 was Rick Astley with ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’. Now, you know I love an 80s classic, however the day goes to an American author and poet born on this day in 1922: Jack Kerouac

Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion.

A pain stabbed my heart, as it did every time I saw a girl I loved who was going the opposite direction in this too-big world.

By the way, there is £20 in the Lucky Day pot! Could it be your Lucky Day?
