11 March

What lovely, lucky events we have found for the 11th of March. In 1702, England's first national daily newspaper was published for the first time, The Daily Courant, and in 1851, the first performance of Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi took place in Venice. Which is quite a coincidence as in 1867, first performance of Don Carlos by Giuseppe Verdi took place in Paris. Maybe the 11th of March is a lucky day for Verdi! In 1927, Samuel Roxy Rothafel opened the Roxy Theatre in New York City and in 1933 the musical film 42nd Street was released.

Famous people born on this day include Douglas Adams, English-American author, born 1952; Alex Kingston, English actress, born 1963; both Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, English interior designer, and Jenny Packham, English fashion designer, were born on this day in 1965, and in 1967, Scottish-American actor, singer, and dancer, John Barrowman, was born.
