10 March

Oh, what lucky events we see on the 10th of March! First, in 1876, we have Alexander Graham Bell making the first successful telephone call by saying "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you." Next, we have astronomers discovering rings around Uranus in 1977, and finally, staying with the space theme, we have the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter arriving at Mars in 2006.

But the day goes to the strong women born on this day: Hilary Devey, English businesswoman and philanthropist, born 1957; Sharon Stone, American actress, born 1958; Neneh Cherry, Swedish singer-songwriter, born 1964; and Eva Herzigová, Czech model, born 1973. And to celebrate strong women across the world, lets dedicate the day to the song at number one on the US Billboard on this day in 1979: Gloria Gaynor, with “I will survive”! Take it away Gaynor!

At first I was afraid / I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live / Without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights/ Thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong /And I learned how to get along
And so you're back/ From outer space
I just walked in to find you here /With that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock/ I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second/ You'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door/ Just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble/ Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love/ I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live/ I've got all my love to give
And I'll survive/ I will survive (hey-hey)

Brilliant! Wishing you a strong, empowered Lucky Day!
