19 February

Another day and another amazing collection of lucky facts. Let’s begin in 1819 with British explorer William Smith discovering the South Shetland Islands followed by Thomas Edison patenting the phonograph in 1878. In 1949 Ezra Pound was awarded the first Bollingen Prize in poetry by the Bollingen Foundation and Yale University and in 1963 Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique was published, which sparked the feminist movement in the United States. And can you believe it was on this day, 31 years ago, when Eastenders was broadcast for the first time? Neither can I!

Famous people born on this day include American singer-songwriter and producer Smokey Robinson, born in 1940, English actor Ray Winstone born in 1957 and English singer and song writer Seal born in 1963. More recently, American actress and TV star Victoria Justice was born on this day in 1993.

On top of the Us Billboard in 1977 was Manfred Mann's Earth Band with "Blinded by the Light", and topping the chart in 1994 was power ballad sensation Céline Dion with "The Power of Love". Sing it Céline!

'Cause I'm your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can

Ah! You really can’t beat a power ballad! Although Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart is my favourite! Have a powerfully lucky day my friend!
