16 February

Oh 16 February, what delights you have in store! On this day in 1874, silver dollar became legal US tender and in 1937, Wallace H. Carothers received a patent for nylon and where would be without those nylon stockings! In 1968, the first 9-1-1 emergency telephone system went into service (in Alabama) and in 1978 the first computer bulletin board system was created (CBBS in Chicago).

Born on this day in 1983, Agyness Deyn, English model, actress, and singer, and also born on 16 February was Scottish author and playwright, Iain Banks, in 1954:

“After doing extensive research, I can definitely tell you that single malt whiskies are good to drink.”
― Iain Banks, Raw Spirit

Also born on this day in 1959 was ‘You cannot be serious' tennis player, John McEnroe, who said “The older I get, the better I used to be” as well as “Everybody loves success, but they hate successful people.”

But the days goes to George Michael, number one on the US Billboard on this day in 1985 with “Careless Whisper” – sing it George!

"I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you"

Oh, love those school discos days! Wishing you a non-careless lucky day!
