1 February

So, what do you have for us on this day, the first day of the second month? Well, quite a lot of lucky events actually! We have the fact slavery was abolished in Mauritius on this day in 1835 and in 1884 the first volume (A to Ant) of the Oxford English Dictionary was published. Not bad! In 1893, Thomas A. Edison finished the construction of the first motion picture studio (the Black Maria in West Orange, New Jersey) and in 1901 the wonderful Clark Gable was born.

But the day goes to a little known band of four musicians from Liverpool, who had their first number one hit in the US on this day with a track called "I Want to Hold Your Hand”. I have heard they went on to do quite well!

“Oh yeah, I'll tell you something, I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something, I wanna hold your hand!”

Remember, it’s a Monday today which means a new lucky day has been drawn. Check our website to see if it is your lucky day and if it is just email us the winning claim code from your registered emailed address. And if you do win, please tell your friends and family and share the good news!
