30 January

A tapestry of lucky events can be seen on this day in history. The first boat specializing as a lifeboat is launched on the River Tyne in 1790 and the first Hallé concert is given in Manchester, England, in 1858. In 1925, Douglas Engelbart, an American computer scientist, was born, who invented the computer mouse, and in 1994, Péter Lékó became the youngest chess grandmaster. We could dedicate the day to Phil Collins who was born on this day in 1951. Sorry Phil, but the day goes to Carole King whose Tapestry album was released on this day in 1971 and went on to become the longest charting album by a female solo artist, selling 24 million copies worldwide. “My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue. An everlasting vision of the ever-changing view” Lovely. Although my favourite is 'You've got a friend':

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there
Yes I will
You've got a friend

Wishing you a rich tapestry of luck on this lovely day! Do remember to check if your lucky day has been drawn and I know we mention it all the time but please do tell your friends about us. Take care my friend!
