19 January

A breath-taking day of innovation and light! In 1736 James Watt was born (the famous inventor and engineer after which the watt is named) and, on the same day in 1915, Georges Claude patented the neon discharge tube for use in advertising! Now, where would we be without neon lighting! The same could also be said for briefs, as it was on this day in 1935 that the first pair went on sale by Coopers Inc.

But the day really belongs to someone who makes neon lighting look practically dull in her presence and briefs are just not her style. For the day belongs to Dolly Parton, born on this day in 1946.

“I was the first woman to burn my bra - it took the fire department four days to put it out.”

Have a lucky 9-5 day and do remember to check our website to see if today is your lucky day!
